( 1 ) The bushings are for the following Wheel Skidders: 515, 525, and 545Use the following procedure in order to overhaul the tong bores.
Weld bores that are out of specifications. Use a 7018 series welding rod or the equivalent in wire feed.
Machine the tong bores to the specifications that are listed in Table 3, Table 4, or Table 5 for the grapple head that is being serviced.
Install new bushings in the tong.Use the following procedure in order to overhaul the tong bore in the grapple head.
Weld bores that are out of specifications. Use a 7018 series welding rod or the equivalent in wire feed.
Machine the head bores to the specifications that are listed in Table 6, Table 7, or Table 8 for the grapple head that is being serviced.
Install new bushings in the grapple head.Reassemble the Grapple Head
Freeze the top bearing cup and the bottom bearing cup to -29 °C (-20 °F). Use the proper equipment to handle the bearing cups. Use a 1P-0520 Driver Gp in order to install the bearing cups. Make sure that the bearing cups are firmly seated in the grapple head.
Pack the upper bearing and the lower bearing with lithium based grease. Install clevis (15). Use the 126-5761 Spanner Wrench to install the retaining nut. Tighten the 125-0086 Nut (22) to a torque of 540 N m (400 lb ft).
Manually rotate clevis (15) against one of the stops. Recheck the torque of the retaining nut. Fully rotate clevis (15) against the opposite stop. Recheck the torque of the retaining nut.
Install the locking plate and two bolts (23). Tighten bolts (23) to a torque of 36 3 N m (27 2 lb ft).Note: Do not loosen nut (22) in order to install the locking plate.

(24) 194-2487 Plate
Replace the plate with a 194-2487 Plate (24). Make sure that the plate fits flat onto the bottom of the grapple housing. Use 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound on the bolts. Tighten
