Removal Procedure
Start By:
Chock the front wheels and the rear wheels. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1500, "Wheel Chocks (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
Release the air system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1500, "Air Tanks (Brake) - Purge".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from removing hoses or fittings in a pressure system.Failure to relieve pressure can cause personal injury.Do not remove or disconnect hoses or fittings until all pressure in the air system has been relieved.
Note: Install caps and plugs on all openings in order to prevent dirt or debris from entering the system. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Disconnect hose assembly (1) from the governor assembly.

Disconnect hose assembly (2) from the governor assembly.

Disconnect tube assembly (3) from the regulator valve.

Disconnect hose assembly (4) from the air compressor.

Disconnect hose assembly (7) from the air compressor.

Disconnect tube assembly (8) from the air compressor.

Attach a suitable lifting sling around air compressor (9). Secure the lifting sling to a hoist. Remove three bolts (10) and the washers. Remove air compressor (9) and the gasket (not shown) from the front housing. The weight of air compressor (9) is 10 kg (22 lb).
