Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the brake system.
Escaping fluid under pressure, even a pinhole size leak, can penetrate body tissue, causing serious injury, and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
A visual inspection of the hydraulic system components or the steering system components is the first step in identifying a problem. Stop the engine. Lower the implements to the ground and lower the stabilizers to the ground. Move the control levers for the hydraulics and move the steering wheel to all positions in order to release the pressure in the hydraulic system and the steering systems. Perform the following inspections:
Check the following for damage and leaks: the oil lines and the connections for steering, the oil lines and the connections for the backhoe, the oil line and the connections for the stabilizers and the oil lines and the connections for the loader
Check the control valves for leaks. Look around the line relief valves, the primary resolver and the secondary resolvers.
Check the pump, pump controllers and connections for damage and leaks.
Trace the pump lines to the tank and valves. Check the lines for damage and leaks.
Check the oil cooler and the tank for damage and leaks.
Check tank oil level.
Use a clear, new bottle or a container to get an oil sample from the tank, immediately after the machine is stopped. Check for air bubbles in the oil sample.
Remove the filter element and check the filter element for particles. A magnet will separate ferrous particles from nonferrous particles.
