Component Code(s) 3256,3258, 3281, 3283SUBJECT: THE TORQUE ON THE 149-2835 BOLTS THAT ARE USED IN THE DIFFERENTIAL HAS CHANGED
PROBLEM:
Fretting has been occurring in the bolted joints of the 141-3164 Pinion Hub and the 188-0648 Bevel Gear. Fretting is also occurring in the bolted joints of the 188-0649 Differential Bevel Gear and the 183-4748 Differential Housing.
SOLUTION:
The torque on the 149-2835 Bolts that hold the 141-3164 Pinion Hub to the 188-0648 Bevel Gear and the bolts that hold the 188-0649 Differential Bevel Gear to the 183-4748 Differential Housing should be increased. At component rebuild or at a failure, tighten these bolts to 530 ± 70 Nm (390 ± 52 lb ft).
