System Operation
The coolant level sensor operates as a coolant loss sensor indicating the presence/absence of coolant at the sensor. The sensor is powered from the ECM through the 40-Pin connector J14/P14, pin 10 (+8V). Note that this 8 volt supply is shared by the Coolant Temperature, Rack Position and Main Engine Speed Sensors. The sensor common wire is connected to the 40-Pin Connector through pin 35 (analog ground). The sensor pin out is:Pin A = +8VPin B = Analog GroundPin C = Coolant LevelThe coolant level sensor is a self-contained sensor requiring an external source of power 8.0 plus or minus 0.4 VDC and ground. The sensor is powered from the ECM through the 40-pin connector J14/P14; pin 10 is +8 VDC, pin 35 is ANALOG GND and pin 26 is sensor signal. At J7/P7; pin A is +8 VDC, pin B is ANALOG GND and pin C is sensor signal. Signal Output: Fluid PresentMaximum voltage of 0.5 VDC with reference to analog gnd. No Fluid PresentMinimum voltage of 4.1 VDC with reference to analog gnd.Maximum voltage of 5.3 VDC with reference to analog gnd.Typical voltage of 5.0 VDC with reference to analog gnd. If the Sensor is installed, whether the ECM is programmed to read the Coolant Level Sensor signals or not, the Sensor or its' Harness may still affect the + 8 volts Sensor Supply.
