It is necessary to verify that the oil pressure for the power train is 0.0 kPa (0.0 psi) prior to disassembling the filter base. Test the power train system for pressure by connecting tooling (A) to test ports (1) and (5). The test ports are located on filter base (2) .

(6) Bypass switch (7) Bypass spool (8) Spring (9) Spring (2) Filter baseNote: It may be necessary to remove the filter base from the machine before performing this rework procedure.
Remove 164-7577 Bypass Switch (6) and the bypass spool (7) in order to access the bypass springs.
Remove one 7M-1297 Spring and one 133-2198 Spring and discard the springs.
Replace the 7M-1297 Spring with the 334-2679 Spring (8). Replace the 133-2198 Spring with the 334-2680 Spring (9) and reassemble the bypass spool and the bypass switch.Note: Do Not use the new springs with the old 1R-1809 Oil Filter Element. The use of the new springs with the old filter element could cause damage to the filter element.
Remove the filter housing (3) in order to gain access to the filter assembly. Then replace the 1R-1809 Oil Filter Element with a 328-3655 Oil Filter Element As (4) .
Reassemble the filter base and test for leaks.
