Install thrust bearing (24) and spline plate (23).

Install springs (20) and (19) inside springs (18). Install springs (18) in an alternating pattern. An example would be to install a spring (18) and with a spring (19) inside. The next one would be to install a spring (18) with a spring (20) inside.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install plate (17) to coupling assembly (15). Install bolts (16). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 50 10 N m (37 7 lb ft).

Install coupling assembly (15). Install bolts (14). Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 60 7 N m (44 5 lb ft).

Install seal (13) onto piston (12).

Install O-ring seal (11). Install bearing (10) into clutch housing (8).

Install clutch housing (8) onto the torque converter. Install bolts (7). Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 60 7 N m (44 5 lb ft).
Lubricate the bore lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed. Install ring (9).

Lubricate sealing lip lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed. Use Tooling (B) to install lip seal (6). Install lip seal (6) flush with face of bearing cage.
Lower the temperature of cups (5) and (4). Install cups (5) and (4). Install bearings (3).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to torque converter housing (1). The weight of torque converter housing (1) is approximately 190 kg (419 lb).
Lower torque converter housing (1) onto the torque converter. Keep suitable tension on the lifting device to stabilize the torque converter and torque converter housing (1). Install bolts (2).End By:
Connect the torque converter to the transmission.
