Operation Description:See the table for "Resistor, Sender and Solenoid Specifications". This table is located in the Electrical System Schematic for the machine that is being serviced.Test Step 1. CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENDER.
Disconnect the sender from the machine harness.
Measure the resistance between the terminal and the case of the sender. The following data should be the correct approximate resistance:
54.4°C (130.0°F) at 850 to 1050 Ω
110°C (230.0°F) at 140 to 160 Ω These values are not exact, but the values should be used as guidelines for troubleshooting.Expected Result:The resistance of the temperature sender is within specifications.Results:
OK - The resistance of the temperature sender is within specifications.STOP
NOT OK - The resistance of the temperature sender is NOT within specifications. The temperature sender has failed.Repair: Replace the sender.STOP
