Air and combustion gases can become entrained in the cooling system for many different reasons. To detect air or gases in the system, first perform a visual inspection of the cooling system components under pressure. Use the 9S8140 Pressurizing Pump Group to verify a pressure build-up while running the engine at a constant operating speed and temperature. Check for excessive displacement of air or gases using the bottle test while the engine is operating under constant speed and temperature. Use the results of these simple test to diagnose the cause of a cooling system failure.
