start by: a) remove cylinder headb) remove valves1. Make a measurement to the valve guides to determine if they are worn too much. The maximum permissible diameter for valve guides are as follows: 2M6414 Guide .3782 in. (9.606 mm)9S9040 Guide .3780 in. (9.601 mm)4N3665 Guide .3780 in. (9.601 mm)4N3666 Guide .3780 in. (9.601 mm) 2. If valve guide is worn too much use tooling (A) to remove guide from cylinder head.3. Inspect valve guide seat in head. Make sure that the guide seat is clean before installation of a new valve guide.Install Valve Guides
1. Put clean engine oil on the outside of the valve guide. The 5P1728 Bushing [part of tooling (A)] is needed for the 4N3665 and 4N3666 Guides installation only.3. Make a measurement to the valve guide bore after it is installed in the head. Minimum permissible diameter of valve guide bores in head are: 2M6414 Guide .3751 .0007 in. (9.528 .018 mm)9S9040 Guide .3748 .0007 in. (9.520 .018 mm)4N3665 Guide .3741 in. (9.502 mm)4N3666 Guide .3727 in. (9.467 mm) For 4N3665 and 4N3666 Guides, the height to top of valve guide from head must 1.192 in. .020 in. (30.28 0.51 mm). 2M6414 and 9S9040 Guides must be installed until flange on valve guide makes a seat in head.end by: a) install valvesb) install cylinder head
