Attach a suitable lifting device to differential and bevel gear (21). The weight of differential and bevel gear (21) is approximately 125 kg (275 lb). Install differential and bevel gear (21) to differential carrier (34).

Install bearing cap (32), bolts (33), and bolts (31). Install bearing cap (30) and bolts (29). Install adjustment locknut (27) (not shown) and adjustment locknut (28) to the differential and bevel gear.
Attach Tooling (H) to the differential and bevel gear, as shown. Use Tooling (H) to measure the backlash between ring gear (42) and the gears in the differential. Turn adjustment locknuts (28) and (27) the same amount and turn the adjustment locknuts in the same direction. Turn the adjustment locknuts until the backlash is 0.35 0.13 mm (0.014 0.005 inch).

Attach Tooling (H) to the differential and bevel gear, as shown. Use Tooling (H) to measure the amount of change to Dimension (B). Turn adjustment locknut (28) to achieve maximum preload on the carrier bearings. Dimension (B) should have increased in distance by 0.18 0.05 mm (0.007 0.002 inch).
Repeat Step 23 and Step 24 to assure the backlash has stayed the same.
Tighten bolts (31) to a torque of 900 100 N.m (664 74 lb ft).
Install lock (26) and bolt (25) to the differential and bevel gear.
Install lock (24) and bolt (23) to the differential and bevel gear.

Install clutch jaw (22) to differential and bevel gear (21). Install bolts (20) to differential and bevel gear (21). Install wire locks (19).

Install ring (18), piston seal (17), and piston seal (16) to piston (15).

Install piston (15) to cylinder (7).
Install thrust washer (13) and spacer (14) to cylinder (7). Install clutch jaw (12) to cylinder (7).

Use Tooling (B) to install retaining ring (11). Install retaining ring (11) to cylinder (7).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install springs (10) and spring housing (9) to cylinder (7). Install the bolts that hold spring housing (9) to cylinder (7).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cylinder (7). The weight of cylinder (7) is approximately 39 kg (86 lb). Install cylinder (7) to the differential. Install bolts (8) to cylinder (7).

Install tube (6) and the O-ring seal. Connect hose assembly (3) to union (2) and tighten retaining nut (1). Install bolt (4) and the clip to the cylinder. Tighten retaining nut (5).End By:
