Upgrade Firmware
To get to the "Upgrade Firmware" page, click the "Prog 1200" button and after the Program RS1200 window opens click the "Download Firmware" button located near the bottom left corner.To select the firmware click the Browse button and find the main.rom file, select it and OK out of the dialog box. The path to the file will be displayed in the File Path box.Click the "SEND" button and watch the Blocks Copied (ROM) increment. This will take a few seconds to start. When the main.rom file has been loaded the main. "EEP" will start downloading and the (EEP) box will increment. The "RUN LED" will blink rapidly when the "ROM" file is downloading and it will blink about once a second when the EEP file is downloading.

"Do not cancel this operation in the middle of a download" This will cause the RS1200 to enter Brick Mode. Brick Mode is a mode in which the RS1200 is as functional as a brick.

When the upgrade has finished downloading, a window will pop up stating that the download was successful. Click the "CLOSE" button to start the RS1200. The RS1200 should start after about 10 seconds.Troubleshooting
RS1200 will not power up – Make sure that power wires are wired in correctly. If unit still does not turn on, check battery voltage. Voltage has to be above 12.2 vdc for unit to operate correctly. If unit still fails to power up contact Customer Support for further instructions.
RS1200 is not communicating with Flow Meter – Check to make sure that the communication wiring is wired to the correct output ports. "Refer to device type wiring schematics in appendices".Note: TotalFlow meters have to have the Node address set correctly (usually to 1) to communicate with the RS1200. Some Total Flow EFMs require a communication card to allow communication between the RS1200 and the Total Flow. The common card used is RS232, although RS485 communications can also be used. Make sure that the right card is used and plugged into the correct port (Comm. 1) and the right setting is applied in the RS1200, RS232, or RS485. If the RS1200 and EFM are still not communicating contact Customer Support for further instructions.
RS1200 is not sending out data –
. If using an Orbcomm radio, plug into the logger port on the RS1200 board and by using Hyper- Terminal and check signal strength and signal to noise ratio (eb/N0). Signal strength should be less than -115 and noise ratio should be above 10 to be able to send data. If -135 is seen check cabling from the RS1200 to the antenna by using an Ohm meter with Tone capabilities, Be sure not to clamp cable to tight around pole, by doing so can cause the cable to short out. Check the antenna by using an Ohm meter, put one lead at the bottom of the base pin the other lead where the whip goes into. Reading
