Assembly Procedure
Reference: Refer to Specifications, "Counterbalance Valve" in the Service Manual for your machine.
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

Install two O-ring seals on each nut (12) .
Install nut (12) and screw (11) on each relief valve (13). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 30 5 N m (22 4 lb ft).
Install cap (10) on each screw (11). Tighten the caps to a torque of 30 5 N m (22 4 lb ft).
Install ring (15) and ring (17). Install O-ring seal (14) and O-ring seal (16) on each relief valve (13). Apply clean oil to the O-ring seals.
Install relief valves (13) on the counterbalance valve. Tighten the relief valves to a torque of 100 10 N m (75 7 lb ft).
Install the O-ring seals on plugs (18). Install the plugs in counterbalance valve (8). Tighten the plugs to a torque of 40 5 N m (30 4 lb ft).
Install the following components on each valve spool (9) : retainer (7), spring (5) and retainer (2). Compress spring (5), and install ring (1) .
Install seal (6) in cover (4). Place the cover on the counterbalance valve, and install bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 280 30 N m (210 20 lb ft). Repeat this procedure on the opposite side of counterbalance valve (8) .End By: Install the counterbalance valve in the machine.
