New drilling onboard software version 6.8.1 is now available for download from Cat Miner. The new software improves CPU performance with CAN driver communication with MS99x satellite receivers.New drilling software version 6.8.1 replaces the former version 6.8 that was released in December 2011.Customers who wish to upgrade from v6.8 or earlier must use terrain for drilling base image v6.8.1.Note: Terrain for drilling base image v6.8 will no longer be available.Before performing new installation on a drill model that is supported, ensure to use the latest version 6.8.1. Refer to the media listed above for the setup procedures and configuration of Terrain for drilling.Accessing the New Software
Perform the following procedure to access the "DrillBase672.img.zip" software file:
Open a web browser and type the below URL in the address field:https://cat.mining.com
Click on the "Support" menu.
Click on "Mining Technology & Autonomy" section and then select "Terrain".

Ability to configure Strata through a graphical user interface.
Ability to import the system state when performing an upgrade with the use of USB Tool.
Increase in the sequence number of productivity report files for use with Cat tools. The sequence number is increased from three digits to four digits. This improvement allows report files to be generated for an entire work day without being overwritten in support of the increased frequency of reporting.
Access to the DIM web page from the onboard is now password protected.Note: The DIM is only used on articulated drill models.
Support for sending the design depth from the onboard to the RCS unit on the following Atlas Copco drill models: PV235, PV271, PV275 and PV351Note: The RCS version must also be upgraded in order to support this feature. Contact the OEM to confirm the latest RCS version that is required to implement this feature.
Support for P&H 250XPC with UDP interface for use with hardware version 2.5.
Updates to the drill interface for Bucyrus SKS (Cat MD6420) with DIGSY control system to include improvements for multi-pass drilling. These improvements relate to visualization of the multi-pass drilling features in the hole profile screen on the onboard.

The following improvements are addressed in version 6.8.1:Bit Projection Accuracy
The new software has feature to disable the design hole for use with inclined drilling in cases where the mast must be vertical when tramming to a design hole. Also, the bit projection is calculated based on the mast angle during inclined drilling. This enables the operator to locate the design hole accurately.Improved Multi-Pass Drilling with RCS
