Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Use Tooling (B) to install bearings (11) in pump body (10). Note: The bearing joint must be within 30 15 degrees of a centerline through the bores. The bearings must be installed so the bearings are even with face (A).
Install dowels (12) in pump body (10). Note: Install the dowels so the dowels extend 6.40 mm (0.252 inch) above the surface.

Put clean oil on the inside diameter of the bearings in the pump body and on shaft assemblies (9).
Install one shaft assembly (9) in the lower section of the pump. This shaft assembly (9) has the groove (slot) for the key.
Install second shaft assembly (9).

Use Tooling (B) to install bearings (8) in cover (3).

The bearing joint must be within 30 15 degrees from the centerline through the bores.
Install bearings (8) even with face (B). Put clean oil on the inside diameter of each bearing.

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Install cover (3) on the pump body. Install plunger (4), spring (5), spacer (6), and retainer (7) on the pump. Install the bolts that holdretainer (7). Note: The 1W-729 Oil Pump does not have spacer (10).

Install key (2) in the shaft.

Install gear (1), the washer, and bolt (13). Tighten bolt (13) to a torque of 54 7 N m (40 5 lb ft).
The pump must turn freely after the pump is assembled. End By:
