   Explanation of Changes
Improved Engine Speed Signal Processing - This will reduce noise on the engine speed sensor.The Under Speed Set Point has been lowered by 100 RPM (973C only) - This will provide increased performance for the 973C.Increased delay for the neutral calibration fault on the speed direction lever - This change addresses customer complaints of machines stopping during a directional shift.Improved Speed Direction Lever calculations with filtering added - These software changes, in conjunction with the new pump control, will address the 963C shudder issue.Capability to provide different rate limits - Due to a faster deceleration, new 963C servo valves require different rate limits for the speed direction lever. These different rate limits are provided by the new 220-5734 Power Train Software .Improved modulation (when both pedals are depressed) has been added - Improved modulation (when both pedals are depressed) has been added to correct the following two situations that may occur when both pedals are depressed: jerkiness and machine stopping too fast.False diagnostic complaints have been addressed - False diagnostic (133-07) complaints that occur during a stall test or during heavy load conditions have been addressed.Filters have been added to the steering pedals and selectable steering rate limits have been provided for the 953C and the 963C - In order to address complaints of jerky operation on the 953C and the 963C (occurring after the new 195-3739 TEHC Valves were installed during the safety PIP), the following changes have been made: filters have been added to the steering pedals and selectable steering rate limits have been provided for the 953C and the 963C For information on rate limit selections, refer to "Rate Limit Selections".Rate Limit Selections
Rate Limit Selections are made through the Caterpillar Monitoring System (CMS). The two selections are "High" and "Low". The "High" selection, which is more aggressive, makes no changes from the former 206-7018 Power Train Software. The "Low" selection, which is smoother, has slower rate limits than the rate limits that occurred in the former 206-7018 Power Train Software. To change Rate Limit Selections, perform the following procedure.
Start the engine.
Enter the calibration mode (mode 5) of the Caterpillar Monitoring System (CMS). Press the "SERVICE" switch and the "CLEAR" switch. Continue to press the "SERVICE" switch and the "CLEAR" switch until "-5-" is showing in the display area.

Enter Sub Mode 28 (Steering Pedal Control Sensitivity Adjustment). Press the "SERVICE" switch. Continue to press the "SERVICE" switch until "28" is displayed in the Sub Mode Identifier portion of the screen (1). The present value for the steering control sensitivity setting will be displayed in the Data Value Identifier portion of the screen (2) .
