Lockup Clutch Function
The lockup clutch controls the direct drive electrically. When the ECU activates the lockup solenoid the lockup clutch in the torque converter mechanically connects the torque converter input shaft to the torque converter output shaft. This efficiently connects the power train to the engine.The ECU keeps the lockup clutch engaged as much as possible during normal operation. When the transmission shifts the lockup solenoid is deactivated for easier shifting. The machine is in torque converter drive when the lockup solenoid is deactivated.The transmission's reverse gear and the transmission's neutral gear are torque converter drive. The first gear is torque converter drive and also direct drive based on the transmission output speed. The second gear is torque converter drive on the low end and direct drive on the high end. The third gear and all other forward transmission gears are direct drive.Rapid Downshift Function
The ECU does not allow a turnaround shift until a short time after a shift occurs. A turnaround shift is an opposite shift from the previous shift. For example, a downshift is prevented for a short time after an upshift and an upshift is prevented for a short time after a downshift. The turnaround feature allows the conditions to stabilize before an opposite shift. The delay prevents hunting between gears.Elevated Downshift Function
For automatic mode only: This function improves retarding performance by elevating the upshift and the downshift points. When the service brake is engaged, the ECU raises the shift points.Backup Alarm Relay Output Function
The backup alarm is used in order to alert personnel that the machine is backing up. When this function is enabled the ECU causes the backup alarm to SOUND. When the operator selects REVERSE the ECU activates the relay for the backup alarm which activates the backup alarm.Note: The backup alarm will only be active when the transmission is in road mode.The function is enabled when the transmission is in REVERSE. This feature is standard in this software. Not all vehicles may connect up an audible backup alarm. Diagnostics are not performed on the driver for the backup alarm. If the alarm is hooked up to the output driver, the device may be different from one vehicle to the next (relay or direct alarm connection).The function is enabled when the operator selects REVERSE at the shift lever. The shift lever tells the ECU that the shift lever is in REVERSE.Note: The backup alarm output has the ability to drive up to 2 amperes.Starter Interlock
The starter interlock function is an output signal. This signal ensures that conditions are met in order for the engine starter to be engaged. The vehicle needs to ensure that the shifter is in neutral before allowing the engine to start.If the starter interlock output is currently disabled, then the output conditions for the function to be enabled are on if the transmission shifter is in NEUTRAL, the transmission is actually in NEUTRAL, and the engine speed signal is zero rpm.
