Conditions Which Generate This Code:The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects a closed circuit to the −Battery on the "Battle Short" input to the ECM. Information on default settings and ranges for this event can be found in Troubleshooting, "Event Codes".

Typical schematicSystem Response:The ECM disables engine shutdowns due to low engine oil pressure or high engine coolant temperature. The event code will be logged.E085-1 (Warning)The engine will be able to be restarted and the engine will operate at full power.Test Step 1. Verify that the "Battle Short Switch" has been Activated
Talk to the operator and verify that the "Battle Short Switch" was activated by the operator.Expected Result:The "Battle Short Switch" was activated by the operator.Results:
OK - The "Battle Short Switch" was activated by the operator.Repair: When possible, turn the "Battle Short Switch" to the OFF position. Repair any active diagnostic codes.STOP
Not OK - The "Battle Short Switch" is not activated.Repair: There may be a short in the circuit for the "Battle Short Switch". Refer to Illustration 1 as a reference for the following test step.
Disconnect ECM connector J1/P1. Check for a short to the −Battery or to engine ground at the following test points:
ECM terminal P1-58
Terminal 35 of the C37 harness connector
Terminal 4 on the "Battle Short Switch"
Check for a short circuit between the following test points:
Terminal 4 and terminal 5 on the "Battle Short Switch"If a short circuit is detected between any of the test points, repair the wiring and/or replace damaged components. Check each connection for corrosion. Ensure that all wires are properly crimped and/or tightened.STOP
