Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Location of rear filtration system
Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

Remove drain plug (1) from filter housing (2). Drain the oil into a suitable container.
Wash the drain plug with a clean, nonflammable solvent. Replace the seal for the drain plug.
Remove filter housing (2).
Remove filter element (3). Properly dispose of the used filter element.
Wash the filter housing in clean, nonflammable solvent.
Replace backup ring (4) and housing seal (5).
Install new filter element (3) and housing (2). Tighten filter housing to 101.7 10 N m (75 7.4 lb ft).
Install drain plug (1) with new seal into filter housing (2). Tighten plug to 51 10 N m (37.6 7.4 lb ft).
Start the engine and operate the engine at an idle for 5 minutes. Inspect the oil filter for leaks. Make any necessary repairs.
Check the oil level in the Hoist-Brake Tank. If necessary, add oil. For the proper procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual , Hoist and Brake Tank Oil Level – Check.
