PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING P-FRAME CIRCUIT BREAKER SUPPORTS
MODELS INVOLVED - Certain C32 and 3500 Generator Sets
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
Existing supports for the P-frame circuit breaker are too thick and prevent proper thread engagement on the nuts. New supports with counter bored holes need to be installed on the products listed below. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 03Jan2007 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
Refer to SEBU8088 Operation and Maintenance Manual and the following instructions:
1. On packages with rear extension boxes use a lift cart or some other means to support the circuit breaker from the bottom before replacing supports.

2. Remove mounting bolts from bottom support (252-7486) and bottom mounting screws on circuit breaker.
3. Install new bottom support (296-5557) and connect with original mounting bolts and washers.
4. Re-install bottom circuit breaker mounting screws with original hardware.
5. Remove ladder clip and mounting bolt from top support (252-7451).

6. Remove mounting bolts from top support (252-7451) and top mounting screws on circuit breaker
7. Install new top support (296-5556) and connect with original top mounting bolts and washers.
8. Install ladder clip in new modified top support (296-5556) with original hardware
9. Re-install top circuit breaker mounting screws with original hardware.
10. Tighten all bolts to correct torque.

If you are having difficulty removing or installing any of the ?glass sticks? try on of the following tips.
A. Remove the first bolt on top angle bracket to allow more clearance when installing the support.

B. Disconnect the circuit breaker bus bar leads to allow more clearance when removing or installing the support.
