Partial Schematic of the Cat Datalink CircuitThis diagnostic code is recorded when the implement ECM (Grade Control) is unable to communicate with the machine's power train ECM through the Cat Datalink. This diagnostic code is recorded when the implement control (Grade Control) ECM does not receive expected information. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below. The causes are listed in order of probability:
The implement (Grade Control) ECM has failed. There are no serviceable parts within the implement (Grade Control) ECM.
Cat Datalink has failed.
Unable to establish communications with the power train ECM.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code for the implement (Grade Control) ECM is active.Test Step 1. VERIFY THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE IS PRESENT.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove connectors J1 and J2 from the ECM and reconnect connectors J1 and J2 to the ECM.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Check whether CID 0248 FMI 09 is present.Expected Result:The CID 0248 FMI 09 is NOT present.Results:
OK - The diagnostic code is NOT present. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NOT OK - The diagnostic code remains present.Repair: Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the problem remains, perform CID 0248 FMI 02. See Troubleshooting, "MID 114 - CID 0248 - FMI 02 " .STOP
