When performing lubrication or maintenance, unless otherwise specified:1. Park the machine on level ground.2. Neutralize transmission and apply neutral lock.3. Lower bowl.4. Apply parking brake.5. Stop the engine.
Read and understand all warning and caution information provided on the machine.Electrolyte solution is an acid and can cause personal injury if it contacts skin or eyes.Do not smoke when observing electrolyte level. Batteries give off flammable fumes.Sparks can cause battery vapors to explode. When starting with a boost, attach ground cable last and remove first to prevent sparks from occurring near the battery.Attach ground cable from booster battery to the starter ground terminal on the machine to be started to prevent sparks near the battery.When mounting or dismounting, do not use steering wheel as a hand hold. Machine could articulate. Use steps and grab irons provided. When starting from auxiliary power source, turn off disconnect switch and remove key before connecting battery cables. Activation of steering or cushion hitch controls can cause movement-suddenly reducing clearances in hitch area.Hydraulic oil is flammable. Do not weld on hydraulic tank or lines filled with oil.Hot hydraulic oil can cause personal injury. Remove hydraulic tank cap slowly to relieve pressure. Allow oil to cool before draining.When draining lubricant, extreme caution should be used. Lubricant could be hot and could cause personal injury.Always inspect the cooling system with the engine stopped. Remove the radiator filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. Steam can cause personal injury.Inhibitor contains alkali, avoid contact with skin or eyes. Be sure hood latch is secure when hood is raised, to prevent hood from falling and causing personal injury. Loosen the final drive fill plug slowly, to relieve any pressure, before removing the fill or drain plugs.To avoid possible weakening of the ROPS (Roll-over Protective Structure), consult a Caterpillar dealer before altering the ROPS in any way. The protection offered by the ROPS will be impaired if it has been involved in an overturn accident.Wear protective face shield and clothing, and use 30 psi (205 kPa) maximum air pressure for cleaning.Do not attempt repairs you do not understand.Turn disconnect switch off and remove key before servicing electrical system. Attach DO NOT OPERATE tag to controls while machine is being serviced. Use a self-attaching air chuck and stand behind tread when inflating tires.Do not allow unauthorized personnel on machine while it is being serviced.Store oily rags or other combustible material in a safe place.Do not attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running.Do not smoke while fueling. Fumes from fuel are flammable.Wear protective glasses and shoes as the job requires.Operate engine only in well ventilated area. Block bowl when changing cutting edges or router bits.
