Information:

An engine oil pressure event can be generated by either the engine ECM or the EMCP 4, depending on the configuration of the EMCP 4. The engine oil pressure sensor can be configured for either datalink or sensor. If the oil pressure sensor is configured for datalink, the oil pressure event can be generated by either the engine ECM or the EMCP 4. The event may also be generated by both of the ECMs. If the oil pressure sensor is configured for sensor, the oil pressure event can be generated by one or more of the analog inputs.Only low warning and low shutdown events are supported for engine oil pressure. If configured for CAN 1 datalink, the engine ECM will monitor the oil pressure and send a message to the EMCP 4 for low oil pressure warning and shutdown events. The low warning and shutdown thresholds in the engine ECM are non-configurable setpoints. If during the commissioning of a genset, or any other time, the EMCP 4 can generate these events. The EMCP 4 will monitor and respond to setpoints for oil pressure even when the engine oil pressure sensor is configured for data link using the setpoints available in the engine oil pressure monitor menu. With the engine oil pressure sensor configured for sensor, the oil pressure sensor must be connected to an EMCP 4 analog input. If the engine oil pressure sensor is configured for sensor and an analog input has not been configured for oil pressure an engine oil pressure input not configured warning will occur. Engine low oil pressure warning/shutdown and time delays are programmed through the analog input configuration menus when configured for sensor. You can program more than one analog input for the same data identification, or engine oil pressure for example. When two or more analog inputs configured for engine oil pressure exist, all warning and shutdown setpoints for each respective analog input will drive low engine oil pressure warning or shutdown. Low warning event threshold and low shutdown event threshold setpoint units in the analog inputs menu are fixed at kPa when the data identification is a pressure. To convert PSI to kPa, multiply the PSI value by 6.89. To convert bar to kPa, multiply the bar value by 100.The EMCP 4 also includes setpoints for monitoring engine oil pressure while running at low idle. Whether the low idle setpoints are used to drive engine low oil pressure warning/shutdown depends on the low engine oil pressure step speed setpoint. When the engine speed is below this setpoint, the low idle setpoints are used for engine low oil pressure warning/shutdown. The low idle thresholds use the same delay setpoints that are used for the datalink low oil pressure setpoints. The code for low engine oil pressure warning or low engine oil pressure shutdown is generated when the ADEM or EMCP 4 determines that the engine oil pressure has decreased below the low warning or shutdown threshold for the associated time delay.
