Shipping brackets are designed to permit machine operation only under the conditions that follow:a) No load in the scraper bowl.b) Run rear engine (if so equipped) with the transmission in neutral.c) Operate the machine in first gear only.d) Do not operate machine over five miles.e) Apron control lever must be in the float position and the ejector must be in the rear position; the scraper hydraulic controls must not be moved during operation of the machine.Failure to follow these steps can cause the shipping brackets to break or bend and result in personal injury or machine damage.
1 Put the tractor and scraper on level solid ground or concrete. Lift the scraper bowl and put stands or wood blocks approximately 255.0 (10.0") high under the cutting edge. Put stands under the draft tube and the front of the tractor for support while the shipping brackets are installed. Lift apron (1) and fasten it to scraper lifting eye (2) with a chain or steel cable as shown. The apron weight is approximately 2250.0 kg (5000.0 lbs.). Fasten a hoist to draft arm (3) [weight approximately 900.0 kg (2000.0 lbs.)] and remove bolts (4) and trunnion cap (5). Remove 4T6570 Guard from each side of the scraper bowl at location (X). If the lift arms are being installed, 12.0Ø (.5"Ø) hole (A) must be in alignment with the same size hole in draft tube (6). 2 Remove trunnion (7) from each side of the scraper bowl. Install trunnions (7) inside the scraper bowl with twelve 7K9272 Bolts (8) and the former washers. 3 Install a 9J2626 Bumper (9) on each draft arm. Put draft arm (3) in position inside the bowl and loosely install the cap bolts at this time. Connect a draft arm (3) to each side of draft tube (6) with 1U826 Bracket Assemblies (10) and the former bolts. Tighten the trunnion cap bolts inside the scraper bowl. Put 12.0Ø (.5"Ø) holes (B) in alignment with the 12.0Ø (.5"Ø) holes in draft tube (6) and draft arms (3). 4 Install a 4T766 Runner Assembly (11) on each draft arm (3) with three 8H5772 Bolts, 5P8250 Washers and 2J3507 Nuts. Fasten 100.0 (4.0") thick wood blocks (12) on top of draft arms (3). Lift apron (1) and remove the chain or cable that was installed in step 1, page 3. Slowly lower the apron until it makes contact with blocks (12). Disconnect the apron lift link from the apron and install pin (13) in its original position. Slowly lower the apron cylinder to the limit of its travel and put the apron control lever in the "FLOAT" position. Fasten the apron lift link to the scraper bowl with steel bands or cable. Disconnect hoist cylinders (14) from the bowl. Fully retract the hoist cylinder rods and fasten them with steel bands.
