Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.

(1) Apply Tooling (D) to the mating surface of receptacle (2) Tighten the piston to a torque of 1500 125 N m (1106 92 lb ft). (3) Apply Tooling (F) to the threads tighten the head to a torque of 600 130 N m (443 96 lb ft). (4) Lubricate the O-ring seal and the backup ring with the fluid being sealed. (5) Lubricate the sealing lip lightly with the fluid being sealed. (6) Apply Tooling (G) to the wiper seal groove prior to wiper seal installation. Lubricate the sealing lip lightly with the fluid being sealed. (7) Lubricate the sealing lip lightly with the fluid being sealed. (8) Tighten the set screws to a torque of 25 3 N m (221 27 lb in). (9) Apply Tooling (C) to the set screw and tighten to 3.3 0.7 N m (29 6 lb in). (10) Tighten the plug to a torque of 26 3 N m (230 27 lb in).Installation Procedure

Install boot (20). Install O-ring seal (19). Install cap assembly (18). Install retaining ring (17).

Use a suitable lifting device in order to install steering cylinder (14). The weight of steering cylinder (14) is approximately 20 kg (44 lb). Install pin assembly (13) .
Install nut (16). Tighten nut (16) to 220 14 N m (162 10 lb ft). Align nut (16) with the hole that is in the rod end. Install cotter pin (15) .

Position harness assembly (11) in the bracket and install nut (12). Connect harness assembly (11) by tightening connector (10) .

Install cover (8). Install bolts (9) and (7) .

Install bolts (1) and (3). Connect hose assemblies (2) and (6). Install bolt (4). Connect hose assembly (5) if equipped.
Repeat Step 1 through Step 6 for the remaining steering cylinder.

Remove Tooling (A) .
Check the hydraulic oil level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check".End By: Disconnect the steering frame lock.
