Problem Description
Caterpillar uses the 24 volt DC logic output from terminal 50 to drive the following relay coils:VRFR - Voltage Regulator Fault RelayVRAR - Voltage Regulator Alarm RelayThe entire capability of the internal circuit for terminal 50 is used by the two relay coils.The internal circuitry of terminal 50 will be overloaded if terminal 50 is grounded. In this condition, internal resistors within the circuit will conduct approximately five times the rated power of the resistors. Thermal stress will fail the internal resistors.Additional connections should not be made to terminal 50 unless otherwise specified in Caterpillar digital voltage regulator publications.
