Introduction
The problem that is identified in the technical information bulletin that follows does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
The machines using Product Link PL421 cellular radios show sudden increase in Service Meter Hours (SMU) on the "Asset Utilization" screen when compared to the normal operation of the machine. The problem is associated with multiple ON/OFF power cycles over a few seconds.Solution
Perform the following steps when unexpected jumps occur in the service meter hours:
Adjust the SMU hours in Vision Link to match the service meter hours of the machine.Refer to the Special Instruction, REHS5596, "Installation Procedure for Product Link PL421 Retrofit" for more information on adjusting service meter hours.
Check the PL421 "+Batt", "-Batt", "Key Switch", and "R-Term" wires for secure connections to the machine wiring.
Check to see if the PL421 harness connector is properly mated to the PL421 radio.
Check the machine wiring connected to the PL421 to ensure that there are no intermittent wiring issues.
