The two cab bulkhead 70 contact connectors that pass many of the Machine ECM and Implement ECM circuits through the cab wall (1) CH-C10 Upper 70 contact connector (Implement ECM circuits) (2) CH-C2 Lower 70 contact connector (Machine ECM circuits)The most likely location for a problem in the machine harness for the CAN B Data Link circuits is the cab wall "bulkhead" or pass through connector C-C1 / CH-C2 (2) that is used to connect the inside cab harness "C" Machine ECM connected circuits with the outside cab harness "CH".The CAN B Data Link circuits that connect the Machine ECM to the Motor ECM and the Generator ECM pass through this connector. The CAN B circuit cable is routed through at the positive contact 46 (wire 6721-PK. The negative wire is routed through at contact 47 (wire 6720-WH.This connector is the first connector that should be checked for proper data link connections when a problem in the harness is suspected.Refer to the Troubleshooting, "General Information " section of this manual for the complete circuit assignments for the two cab pass through 70 contact connectors. This procedure should not require entry into any enclosures that contain hazardous voltage components and should not require any hazardous voltage connections to be disconnected. When an area that contains hazardous voltage components must be entered for a service procedure, the "Safe Shutdown Procedure for Electric Drive Tractors" procedure must be performed before any enclosures that contain hazardous voltage components are opened or before any hazardous voltage connectors are disconnected. Refer to the Troubleshooting, "Electrical Maintenance Guidelines" section of this manual. Perform the "Safe Shutdown Procedure for Electric Drive Tractors" procedure before any of the hazardous voltage areas are opened or before hazardous voltage connectors are disconnected.Note: Ensure that the CID 0246 FMI 09 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE DATA LINK CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Turn the key switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector J1 from the Generator ECM. Disconnect the machine harness connector J2 from the Machine ECM.
Inspect the harness connectors and clean all of the contacts of the harness connectors. Refer to the illustration at the beginning of this procedure to check the CAN B Data Link connections on each of the machine harness connectors. Ensure that the wires are secured in the connector, the contacts are clean, and the contacts are in good condition.
At the disconnected harness connector J1 for the Generator ECM, connect a jumper wire between contact J1-66 (wire 6721-PK) and contact J1-67 (wire 6720-WH).
At the disconnected harness connector J2 for the Machine ECM, measure the resistance between contact J2-64 (wire 6721-PK) and contact J2-65 (wire 6720-WH).
While observing the resistance measurement, wiggle the machine harness connector for the Generator ECM and wiggle the machine harness connector for the Machine ECM. Gently pull on the wires and move the wires around.Expected Result:
