REMAN ENGINES DESIGNATED AND LABELED AS REPLACEMENT ENGINES
Purpose
To clarify the remanufactured engines, long blocks and short blocks that are eligible for Emissions Warranty in the United States, Canada, US Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico, and South Korea.
Emissions Warranty
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) both require Caterpillar to provide an emissions warranty to end users. The South Korea Clean Air Conservation Act requires Caterpillar to provide an emission warranty to endusers for engines used in certain construction machines operated and repaired in South Korea. Caterpillar must warrant that the engine is designed, built and equipped so as to conform at the time of sale with applicable regulations and be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a defined period of years or hours of operation, whichever occurs first (Emissions Warranty).
Information about Caterpillar Emissions Warranty is covered in Warranty Bulletin 7.01 "Emissions Warranty".
The selling dealer must assure that the customer is provided with a copy of the appropriate emissions warranty statement: US "Federal Emissions Control Warranty" statement SELF9009 (Non Road & Stationary Engines), SELF9002 (Marine Engines) or SELF9010 (South Korea). These can be found at the Global Warranty Website (https://warranty.cat.com).
Replacement Engines
Replacement engines are defined in Information Release Memo PELJ1301.
Applicable Reman Engines
Only Reman engines, Reman long blocks and Reman short blocks that are designated and labeled as "Replacement Engines" are eligible for Emissions Warranty. These are shown in the table below.
Other Reman engines, Reman long blocks and Reman short blocks are not designated and labeled as "Replacement Engines", so are not eligible for Emissions Warranty. Changes from previous version are highlighted.
