Diagram of the Electrical System for the Winch (1) Control handle. (2) Solenoid (winch brake). (3) Solenoid (reel-in clutch). (4) Solenoid (winch freespool). (5) Key start switch. The electrical system for the solenoids on the winch is a 24 Volt electrical system. When key start switch (5) is in the ON position, power is provided to the electrical system of the winch. The electrical system for the winch consists of the following components: control handle (1), solenoid for the winch brake (2), solenoid for the reel in clutch (3), solenoid for winch freespool (4) and key start switch (5).
Illustration 2 g01241867
Operator's Cab of the Cable Skidder (1) Winch control lever. (6) FREESPOOL position. (7) Winch BRAKE OFF position. (8) Winch BRAKE ON position. (9) REEL IN position. The control handle (1) is located in the cab on the right side console. The operator uses the control handle to control the winch. The control handle sends a 10 volt signal to the machine Electronic Control Module. The ECM sends 10 volts to the relays. The relays send 24 volts to the solenoids on the winch control valve. The position of the control lever determines the solenoid on the winch control valve that will be activated.

Location of Solenoids at the Winch (2) Solenoid (winch brake). (3) Solenoid (reel-in clutch). (4) Solenoid (winch freespool).Solenoids (2), (3), and (4) are located on the winch on the right side of the machine. The solenoids are on/off solenoid valves. The solenoids are activated with 24 volts and the solenoids are deactivated with 0 volts. The solenoids control the flow of oil from the winch pump to the clutches of the winch.Solenoid (2) controls the winch brake. Solenoid (3) controls the reel-in clutch. Solenoid (4) controls the winch freespool.ReferenceFor additional information on the operation of the winch, refer to System Operation, "Winch Hydraulic System (Electrically Controlled)".
