1. Move the machine to a level hard surface.
The machine must be on a level hard surface before removing the undercarriage.
2. Drain the oil from the swing gear oil pan. 3. Remove grease tube (1) between upper frame and swing gear. 4. Turn the upper frame 90° to the undercarriage. Put a mark on the swing gear on each side of the two swing lock brackets (2). Turn the machine straight and remove the bolts between the marks that hold the swing gear to the upper frame.5. Turn the upper frame 90° to the undercarriage to the same position as in Step 4. The stick and bucket must be under the boom. 6. Release the oil pressure in the boom circuit. Install blocking plates (3) in the lines for the boom cylinders.7. Install tooling (A) on the boom cylinders.8. Remove the oil level gauge from the swing gear compartment. 9. Disconnect lines (4), (5), (6) and (7) from the manifold on the swivel. 10. Remove plug from each of the final drives. Loosen nuts (8) on input of the final drives. This will disconnect the final drive from the track motors so the undercarriage can be pulled from under the upper frame. 11. Put tooling (B) in position under rear of machine.
Each of the two cylinders (9) in tooling (B) must be controlled separately to keep the upper frame level during removal and installation. The weight of the upper frame is approximately 46,100 lb. (20911 kg).
12. Put tooling (C) under the boom.13. Put enough force on tooling (B) and (C) to hold the upper frame level and straight.14. Remove the remainder of bolts that hold the upper frame to the swing gear.15. Slowly lift the upper frame off the undercarriage with tooling (B) and (C) until the undercarriage will clear the pinion on the swing drive. 16. Fasten a chain to the undercarriage (10). Pull the undercarriage clear of the upper frame with a power truck.17. Install tooling (D) under front of the upper frame for added support.Install Undercarriage
1. Install two 1"-9 NC guide bolts in the upper frame and remove tooling (D).2. Move undercarriage (1) in position under the upper frame. Make sure guide pins are in alignment with the holes in the undercarriage.
The upper frame must be kept in a level position at all times during installation of the undercarriage.
3. Slowly lower the upper frame on to the undercarriage with tooling (B) and (C). If the pinion is not in alignment with the swing gear, the swing motor must be removed to turn the swing drive to get the pinion in alignment. 4. Put 5P960 Grease on the bolt threads and washer faces. Install the washers and bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 880 80 lb. ft. (122 11 mkg).5. Install grease tube (2) between upper frame and swing gear. 6. Connect lines (4), (5), (6) and (7) to the manifold on swivel.7. Install the oil level gauge for the swing
