Schematic of the Engine Speed Signal paths. The CID 0190 FMI 02 diagnostic code is recorded when the power train electronic control module (ECM) fails to receive an engine speed signal from the engine ECM. The power train ECM receives the engine speed signal from the engine ECM through the following signal paths:
Engine Spd Tach Wire
Cat Data Link
CAN Data Link A CID 0190 FMI 02 diagnostic code is recorded when the power train ECM fails to receive an engine speed signal from all of the signal paths.Note: The engine must be running in order for the power train ECM to show this diagnostic code.
Transmission shift points will be affected
Calibrations will be disabledTest Step 1. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL RELATED DIAGNOSTIC CODES.
Ensure that all electronic control modules that use the Cat Data Link are connected.
Turn the battery disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Acknowledge any active diagnostic codes that are currently displayed on the Caterpillar Monitoring System.
