NOZZLE 3257009 - Caterpillar

Make sure the stick pin bore, the bucket pin bores, the bucket pins, the flanges and the O-rings are thoroughly clean prior to installation of the bucket.
Check the condition of the O-ring seals. If the O-ring seals are damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Note: Install flange (13) with alignment pin (13A) between the bolt holes (13B) .
Apply a thin coat of Tooling (A) to the outside machined surface of flange (13) .
Apply a thin coat of Tooling (A) in the bore of flange (13) .
Use a hammer in order to install flange (13) into the bucket.

Temporarily install O-ring seals (6) on each flange of the bucket at the pin bore for the stick.
Start the engine and lower the stick into the bucket until the pin bores are in alignment with each other. Stop the engine.

Apply a thin coat of Tooling (A) on bucket pin (8) .
Install bucket pin (8) with a hammer.
Put the retaining bolt hole in bucket pin (8) in alignment with the retaining bolt hole in the bucket.
Temporarily install retaining bolt (12) and nuts (11) .

Install plate (9) with shims (10) .
Install bolts (7) and the washers. Tighten bolts (7) evenly.
Position the bucket to one side until the bucket contacts the stick.

Measure the clearance between the bucket and the stick at flange (13). Record this dimension.
Add or remove shims (10) between plate (9) and flange (13) until Clearance (X) between the stick and the bucket is between 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) to 1.0 mm (0.04 inch).
If shims were added or removed, reinstall plate (9). Install the washers and bolts (7). Tighten bolts (7) evenly.

Tighten retaining nut (11). Tighten the outside nut until the nut is even or 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) above the end of the retaining bolt. Tighten the inside nut against the outside nut.

Slide O-ring seals (6) onto the pin joints between the stick and the bucket.

Slide O-ring seals (5) onto the bucket flange, as shown.

Make sure that the threaded puller hole in the end of bucket pin (3) is clean.
Apply a thin coat of Tooling (A) to the surface of bucket pin (3) .
Push the link assembly in position in the bucket. Install bucket pin (3) with a hammer.
Install retaining bolt (1) and nuts (2) .

Tighten retaining nut (2). Tighten the outside nut until the nut is even or 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) above the end of the retaining bolt. Tighten the inside nut against the outside nut.
Slide O-ring seals (5) over the pin joints between the bucket and link assembly. Refer to illustration 9 for the location of O-ring seals.
