Schematic of the 24 VDC sensor supply
This diagnostic code is associated with the 24 VDC power supply of the machine electronic control module (ECM). The CID 0269 FMI 06 service code is recorded when the ECM reads the voltage of the sensor supply circuit (wire H856-BR(Brown)) as higher than normal. The CID 0269 FMI 06 diagnostic code is activated when the ECM detects an above normal current for the 24 VDC power supply. The following causes could signal this diagnostic code:
The sensor supply circuit (wire H856-BR(Brown)) is shorted to ground.
The ECM has failed. A failure of the ECM is unlikely.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the problem has been corrected. Verify that the CID 0269 FMI 06 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.System Response:Level 1 warning will be generated.Test Step 1. CHECK FOR THE CORRECT VOLTAGE AT THE ECM
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Check the voltage at the connector of the ECM from contact J1-24 (sensor supply) to contact J1-2 (ground). Use the 7X-1710 Cable Probes to measure the voltage. Do NOT disconnect the machine harness from the ECM.Expected Result:The voltage is 24.0 0.5 VDC.Results:
OK - Voltage is 24.0 0.5 VDC. The sensor supply voltage is correct. Verify that the diagnostic code is present. If the diagnostic code is still present, the ECM has failed. Replace the ECM.Repair: A failure of the ECM is unlikely. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. Also, recheck if the diagnostic code is active. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".STOP
NOT OK - Voltage is NOT 24.0 0.5 VDC. The sensor supply voltage is NOT correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the J1 and J2 machine harness connectors from the ECM.
At the J1 machine harness connector for the ECM, measure the voltage from contact J1-24 (sensor supply) H856-BR(Brown)to all possible sources of ground.Expected Result:Each resistance measurement should be greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
OK - Each resistance measurement is greater than 5000 ohms. The machine harness is correct. The ECM has failed. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - Any resistance measurement is less than 5000 ohms. The harness has failed.Repair: The machine harness is shorted to ground. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE
Perform the following:
Visually inspect the harness connectors.
Clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Visually inspect the insulation of the wires for damage that is caused by excessive heat, corrosion, or chafing.
Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of the wires that are associated with the circuit.
Reconnect all harness connectors. Verify the following:
Connectors are fully seated.
The clips for each connector are fastened
