GROUP ON CERTAIN EXCAVATORS
PROBLEM:
The V-belt for the refrigerant compressor can become worn and break. The wear is caused by the V-belt slipping due to decreased belt tension and the type of material that was used to manufacture the belt.
SOLUTION:
If the 9L-2248 V-Belt breaks, install a new 255-2927 V-Belt on 318C and 320C Excavators. Install a new 255-2960 V-Belt on 321C Excavators. The new belts have increased specifications for heat, abrasion, flexibility, and tension.
Make sure that the tension of the belt is checked before delivery to a customer. If the engine is not operated, the belt tension will decrease slightly. Make sure that the tension of the belt is checked every 250 service meter hours or monthly. Make sure that the tension of a new belt is checked after 30 minutes of operation.
