Personal injury can result if the machine moves while testing.If the machine begins to move during test, reduce the engine speed immediately and engage the parking brake.
Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the brake system.
Test the brakes on a dry, level surface. Make sure that the area around the machine is clear. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel.Make sure that the steering frame lock link is in the stored position.Fasten the seat belt before you test the brakes.
Start the engine. Raise the bucket or the work tool slightly.
Place the transmission neutralizer override switch in the ON position.
Apply the service brake and release the parking brake.
Move the transmission control to THIRD SPEED FORWARD.
Gradually increase the engine speed to high idle. The machine should not move.
Reduce the engine speed to low idle. Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position. Engage the parking brake.
Lower the bucket or the work tool to the ground. Stop the engine.If the machine moved during the test, inspect the brake components. As required, repair the brake components before you return the machine to operation.
