The program that is stored in the Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM) in some processors in the MMS II and the GMS may never be downloaded from the EEPROM. This will not cause a problem unless the Central Processing Unit (CPU) is changed or the program that is stored in the memory of the processor is lost or corrupted. If this problem occurs, the symptom will be a "RED CPU FAULT LED" that is lighted on the CPU.Note: Other problems may also cause the "RED CPU FAULT LED" to be lighted.This is a random problem that affects a small percentage of the population. This specific problem is caused by a "Memory Module Status Bit" that is not set. The following procedures can be used to check the state of the "Memory Module Status Bit" and the procedures can be used to set the correct state.Note: RSLogix500 is required to do these procedures. If the "RED CPU FAULT LED" is lighted and no cause is obvious, users without access to RSLogix500 should contact the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) for assistance.Configuration Of The RSLinx Driver
Connect the Personal Computer (PC) to the CPU with a 137-9503 Cable .
Double click on the RSLinx icon.
Select the "Communications" button from the menu that is across the top of the screen.
Select "Configure Drivers" from the drop-down menu.
If the DF1 driver has not been configured on the PC, use the "Procedure For A New Driver" that follows to add the DF1 driver. If the DF1 driver has been configured on the PC, proceed to the next Step.
Highlight the "AB_DF1-1 DH485 Sta:2 COM1: RUNNING" driver in
