MARINE ENGINE, MOTOR GRADER,
Information:
Operation Description:A visual inspection of the system is the first step when you troubleshoot a problem. Make the inspection with the engine off, the attachments on the ground, and all controls in PARK or HOLD.Test Step 1. Check oil level.
Check the level of the oil in the transmission.
The oil level in the transmission can be above the FULL mark. This can occur due to the oil in the cooler returning to the transmission sump. An accurate check of the oil level is made later after the oil has been heated and the engine is running.
Add oil up to the "FULL" mark, as required.Expected Result:Results:
Continue - Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. Check adjustment.
Check the steering pedal linkage adjustment.
Adjust the linkage, as required.Reference: Refer to Power Train Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, SENR3193, "Steer Control Linkage".How...Reference: Refer to Power Train Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, SENR3193, "Steer Control Linkage".Expected Result:Results:
Continue - Proceed to test step 3.Test Step 3. Check pedal adjustment.
Check the center pedal linkage adjustment.
Adjust the linkage, as required.Reference: Refer to Power Train Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, SENR3193, "Speed-Brake Control Linkage".How...Reference: Refer to Power Train Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, SENR3193, "Speed-Brake Control Linkage".Expected Result:Results:
Continue - Proceed to test step 4.Test Step 4. Check sag.
Check the track sag on the right side of the machine.
Adjust the track tension, as required.Expected Result:Results:
Continue - Proceed to test step 5.Test Step 5. Inspect lines.
Inspect all lines and connections for damage and/or leaks.
Repair the lines or replace the lines, as required.Expected Result:Results:
Continue - Proceed to test step 6.Test Step 6. Checks.Check the following items:
Pull the governor control lever into the HIGH IDLE detent.
Remove the bolt and the nut at the underspeed/override link end.
Pull the transmission override valve lever upward until the lever is just against the bumper spring inside the transmission. This is a very light spring. The hole in the underspeed/override upper link end should be in alignment with the hole in the governor linkage bellcrank.
With the FORWARD/PARK/REVERSE lever at the bottom of the "V", pull the pin in order to check the linkage adjustment for the transmission control lever. -If the transmission control lever falls loosely to one side, there may be a broken spring in the pilot valve. -If the pin cannot be replaced without moving the lever, the linkage adjustment is not centered with the transmission. The pin should move freely.
Make sure that the hose from the transmission to the brake manifold is connected.
Repair components or replace components, as required.Expected Result:Results:
Continue - Proceed to test step 7.Test Step 7. Check sag.
Check the track sag on the left side of the machine.
Adjust the track tension, as required.Expected Result:Results:
OK - Stop.
