1. Park on level ground whenever possible. If the machine must be parked on a slope, position it at right angles to the slope and block the tracks.2. Park at a reasonable distance from other vehicles so that they can be quickly and safely moved if necessary. 3. When parking the machine in freezing weather, run the machine onto wooden planks, rocks or brush to keep the tracks or wheels from freezing to the ground.4. Provide appropriate lights or reflectors if the machine is adjacent to a highway in normal use, or adjacent to a construction area where work is in progress, so that another vehicle will not run into the machine.5. Lower the cutter to the ground and place all controls, except the parking brake, at neutral or off. The parking brake should be on. This will help keep the machine from accidentally moving.6. To avoid possible engine damage, allow the engine to idle for a few minutes to gradually cool, and then shut it down. Never use any emergency stopping devices for normal shutdown.7. Turn the ignition switch to off and place any anti-vandalism devices in position and lock them. This will prevent damage and injuries caused by unauthorized operation of the machine, as well as injuries caused by unexpected machine responses that result from pranks. 8. Dismount from the machine carefully to avoid painful sprains and broken bones. Don't jump off. Be careful of slippery hand rails and stepping points. 9. Report any malfunction noticed during operation to the proper maintenance authority. The problem can't be corrected if no one knows about it.
