4C-8195     Control Service Tool    This procedure will calibrate the auto grab function of the grapple. The 4C-8195 Control Service Tool must be used during this calibration procedure.Reference: For more information about the operation of the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool, refer to Systems Operation/Testing And Adjusting, "Using Caterpillar Monitoring System to Determine Diagnostic Codes".New software is used on the machines with the following effectivity. The new software provides calibration for the pressure sensor for the grapple. Prior to performing the calibration procedure, this software must be loaded into the ECM by using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician. Note: The new software is effective with 525B (S/N: 3KZ796, 875-UP), 535B (S/N: AAE583-UP) and 545 (S/N: 2FZ433, 438-UP) Wheel Skidders. The new software is adaptable to first production on Grapple Skidders that are equipped with the pressure sensor for the auto grab.Calibration Procedure
Start the engine. This will enable full hydraulic power.
Using the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool, go to mode 5 by holding the scroll switch and the clear switch until display is showing "-5-". Release both switches.Note: This is the "lockup clutch calibration mode 5".
Press and hold the scroll switch while you are in mode 5. The scroll switch needs to be triggered during the full calibration. The calibration will be done in about six seconds.
The display should show "- - -" in order to indicate the beginning of the calibration.
Close the tong switch. Hold the tong switch closed during the calibration.
After six seconds, the calibration will be complete. The new relief pressure will be displayed for three seconds. The new pressure is shown in kPa. This will indicate a successful calibration. The tong close switch may now be released. The display will now appear. "------" will indicate the end of the procedure.
"------" will be displayed within six seconds without showing the new pressure if calibration was unsuccessful.
Release the scroll switch if calibration is required again. This will return you to the calibration for the lockup clutch. Press and hold the scroll switch in order to start again.Note: If the calibration was unsuccessful, a code may appear. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting Manual, "CID 0455 FMI 13 Pressure Sensor (Tong Close) Out of Calibration" for more information.
Release the scroll switch in order to exit calibration. This will take you back to the calibration for the lockup clutch. Hold the scroll switch and the clear switch in order to exit "sub mode 5".Detailed Description of the Calibration Functionality
