Connections of the Implement Lockout Switch
The implement lockout switch is a two-pole, double-throw switch. One pole is used to provide two, switch to the positive battery, inputs to the ECM in order to indicate the status of the switch. During normal operation, one of the inputs is open. The other input is closed to the positive battery.The FMI 04 diagnostic code is active when neither of the two switch inputs to the ECM are indicating that a voltage is present.Conditions which can cause this diagnostic code to be activated are listed below:
The switch has failed.
One or both of the switch inputs is open in the machine harness.
The common positive battery switch circuit is open in the machine harness.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Note: Contact 5 on the machine harness connector for the switch is connected to the positive battery. The disconnect switch must be OFF in order to interrupt power to this contact.

Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the switch.
With the switch in the UNLOCKED position, measure the resistance between the switch contact 4 and the switch contact 5. Record this measurement.
With the switch in the UNLOCKED position, measure the resistance from switch contact 5 to switch contact 6. Record this measurement.
Move the switch to the LOCKED position and repeat Steps "C" and "D". Expected Result:The status of the switch is correct according to table1 of this procedure with the switch in the LOCKED and UNLOCKED position.Results:
OK. - All of the resistance checks for the switch contacts are correct in both of the switch positions. The switch is working correctly. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK. - The states of contact of the switch are not correct according to the table at the beginning of this procedure. The switch operation is not correct.Repair: Replace the implement lockout switch. After the switch is replaced, verify that the switch operation is correct before operating the machine.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE INPUT CIRCUITS OF THE SWITCH FOR AN OPENThe key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position. The implement lockout switch remains disconnected from the machine harness.
