Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
For all relief valve tests, the recommended method to test a relief valve is to remove the valve from the machine and use a test bench to test and adjust the valve.
Start the engine. Run the engine at high idle. Operate the control levers and move all the cylinders in order to increase the temperature of the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature.
Lower the decking blade and the grapple to the ground. Stop the engine.

Move the steering frame lock to the locked position.
Push the brake pedal many times in order to relieve any brake oil pressure. Make sure that all oil pressure is released before proceeding to the next step.

Open engine access door (1). Remove cover panel (2) in order to access the priority flow control valve more easily.

Remove tube assembly (4) from brake accumulator charging valve (3). Plug the port on brake accumulator charging valve (3) .
Assemble fittings and attach 3S-6224 Electric Hydraulic Pump to tube assembly (4). Install an appropriate gauge between the pump and tube assembly (4) .Note: The reservoir of 3S-6224 Electric Hydraulic Pump only contains 7.58 L (2 US gal) of oil. Ensure that the pump does not run out of oil.

Steering, Decking Blade, and Priority Flow Control Valves (5) Priority flow control valve.
Start the pump and slowly increase the pump pressure. Look at the test gauge. The pressure setting of priority flow control valve (5) should be approximately 16200 350 kPa (2350 50 psi).
Stop the pump.
If the pressure setting of the priority flow control valve is not at the specification, it will be necessary to adjust the priority flow control valve. If the pressure setting of the priority flow control valve is at the specification, proceed to Step 14.
