Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

If the bearings were removed from gears (4), install the bearings in the gears. The bearings must be 3.0 0.5 mm (0.12 0.02 inch) below the flat surface of the gear. The inside diameter of the bearings should be 150.002 0.020 mm (5.9056 0.0008 inch) after installation.
Place gear (4) and retainer (5) in position on shaft (11). Install bolts (6) and Tooling (A).
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to install shaft (11) and gear (4). The weight of shaft (11) and gear (4) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb). Place shaft (11) and gear (4) in position on the cylinder block. Install bolts (12). Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group (Rear)" for the correct torque.
Remove Tooling (A) and install remaining bolt (6).
Repeat Step 2 and Step 4 for the other idler gear.
Place shaft (9) in position on the cylinder block. Install bolts (10). Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group (Rear)" for the correct torque.
If the bearing was removed from gear (8), install the bearing in the gear. The bearing must be 3.0 0.5 mm (0.12 0.02 inch) below the surface of the side of the gear that has the smaller shoulder.
Place gear (1) in position on gear (8). Install bolts (7).
Attach a suitable lifting device to gear (1). The weight of gear (1) and gear (8) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb). Install gear (1) and gear (8) on shaft (9). Align the teeth on gear (1) with the teeth on the crankshaft gear.
Install retainer (2) and bolts (3). End By:
Install the rear housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Rear) - Install".
