7. Use Tooling (A) to remove the bearing cone from each side of transfer gear (7). 8. Remove bearing cup (8) from the case. 9. Fasten a suitable hoist to the transfer gear case and put it in a vertical position as shown. The weight of the unit is 193 kg (425 lb).10. Remove nuts (9) and the washers. Use two 3/8 in - 16 NC forcing screws to loosen bearing cage (10). Remove bearing cage (10). 11. Remove O-ring seal (13), lip-type seal (11) and outer bearing race (12) from cage (10). 12. Remove spacer (14) and the rotor (not shown). from the end of the output shaft.13. Remove the bolt, retainer, O-ring seal and yoke assembly from the other side of the output shaft. 14. Remove bearing retainer (15) and the O-ring seal from the bearing cage. 15. Remove lip-type seal (16) from bearing retainer (15). 16. Install two 3/8 in - 16 NC guide bolts in the case through bearing cage (17) as shown. 17. Attach a suitable lifting strap and hoist to transfer gear (18) to hold it in position as shown. Use a soft faced hammer and push output shaft (20) out of transfer gear (18) and the bearing cage. Remove bearing (19). Remove output shaft (20) and bearing cage (17) as a unit from the opposite side of the transfer gear case. 18. Remove O-ring seal (21) from bearing cage (17). 19. Use a press to push output shaft (20) out of bearing cage (17). 20. Use Tooling (B) and a press to push the bearings out of cage (17). 21. Remove transfer gear (18) from the transfer gear case. 22. Remove covers (23) and the gasket from each side of the transfer gear case.23. Remove cover (22) and the O-ring seal from the transfer gear case. 24. Remove tube assembly (25) and screen (24) from the transfer gear case.Assemble Transfer Gears
Make sure screen (2) and the magnets on tube assembly (1) are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to installation.
1. Install tube assembly (1) and screen (2) in the transfer gear case.2. Install covers (3) and the gaskets on each side of the transfer gear case. 3. Coat the O-ring seal with clean transmission oil and put it in cover assembly (4). Install cover assembly (4). 4. Put transfer gear (5) in position in the transfer gear case. Attach a hoist to hold the gear in position until the output shaft is installed. 5. Lower the temperature of bearing cups (7) and (9). Install bearing cup (7), bearing cones (8) and bearing cup (9) in bearing cage (6) as shown. 6. Heat bearing cage (6) and the bearings to a temperature of 149°C (300°F). Install the unit on output shaft (10) as shown. 7. Coat O-ring seal (11) with clean oil and install it on bearing cage (6). 8. Install two 3/8 in - 16 NC guide bolts in the transfer gear case. Install bearing cage (6) and output
