Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position. Turn all switches to the OFF position.
The battery disconnect switch (if equipped) is located in the engine compartment above the battery. Turn the key for the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Remove the key. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Battery Disconnect Switch" for further information.
Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery disconnect switch. Note: Some machines are equipped with two batteries. Do not allow the disconnected battery cable to contact the battery disconnect switch or the machine.
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
Disconnect the positive cable at the battery end.
Inspect the battery terminals for corrosion. Inspect the battery cables for wear or damage.
If necessary, make repairs. If necessary, replace the battery cables, the battery or the battery disconnect switch.
Connect the positive cable at the battery end.
Connect the negative battery cable at the battery.
Connect the negative battery cable at the battery disconnect switch.
Install the key for the battery disconnect switch. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
