Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove the bolt and clip (1), and position the hoses out of the way.

Disconnect hose assembly (2), two hose assemblies (4), two hose assemblies (5) and hose assembly (7).
Remove bolt (8) and manifold (6).
Remove two valves (3) from manifold (6). Installation Procedure

Install two valves (3) to manifold (6). Tighten valves (3) to a torque of 40 to 48 N m (30 to 35 lb ft).
Install manifold (6) and bolt (8).
Connect hose assembly (2), two hose assemblies (4), two hose assemblies (5) and hose assembly (7).

Install clip (1) and the bolt.
Fill the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check". End By:
