PROBLEM
The existing 198-4769 Washer-Hard can allow the 1608510/">160-8510 Bolt to extend in to the tandem on certain 16M Motor Graders. This reduces the clearance between the bolt and the chains, which can allow the chains to come into contact with the bolts when the oscillation joint thrust washers become worn.

ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to Image 1. Inspect the washers under the 1608510/">160-8510 Final Drive to Tandem bolts. If they are not 16 mm thick, replace the 198-4769 Washers with 4E-5685 Spacers. Bolts marked with X are the 1608510/">160-8510 bolts. Do not remove the corner bolts. The four bottom bolts should be inspected for contact with chain and wear. If contact with the chain is found, replace the bolts and inspect the oscillation joint thrust washer(s).
Before reinstalling the bolts, apply threadlock/sealant.
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 530 +/- 70 N.m (391 +/- 52 lb ft).
