3618 (2MW) Marine EnginesOn the above engines that use the MMS with a personal computer (PC) as the graphical interface, a change needs to be made to one of the settings. When power is applied, the PC automatically starts several applications. One of these applications, WWLogger, runs continuously in the background. This application has a default setting that tells it to save all the log files it creates. Eventually these log files will fill the hard drive and prevent the MMS application from starting and running properly. The following procedures will help to solve the problem.
Procedure 1 changes the WWLogger file cleanup setting. This procedure MUST be performed on ALL PCs used for the MMS. Procedure 1 alone will solve the problem, if it is done before the hard drive is full.
If the hard drive is already full, old log files must be deleted before the MMS can properly load all the applications in order to run. Generally, a dialog box will be displayed to warn the user if the hard drive is out of memory.
To delete the old log files which have been created by the WWLogger program, follow Procedure 2. Procedure 2 must be performed on all PCs that are: displaying an out of memory error, not loading properly, or not running the software properly.
In cases where the hard drive is full and Procedure 2 is required, you still must change the WWLogger file cleanup setting (using Procedure 1) after the old log files have been deleted.
Procedure 1: Changing The WWLogger File Cleanup Default Setting
1. Make sure that an AT style keyboard is connected to the MMS PC.2. While the MMS application is running, hold down the "Alt" key and then press "Tab". The first press of "Tab" will cause a dialog box to open in the middle of the screen. DO NOT release "Alt". The dialog box will show the name of an application running in the Windows environment. Each time you press "Tab>, the next running application will appear in the dialog box.3. Keep pressing "Tab", with "Alt" held down, until the "WWLogger" dialog box appears.4. Release "Alt". WWLogger will open and display a log history.5. Use the touch screen to open the menu labeled "OPTIONS". In other words, touch "OPTIONS" on the screen.6. Use the touch screen to select menu item "DISK OPTIONS". This will open a dialog box. At the bottom of the dialog box is a statement "Keep Log File for [/em/] days." The value in the "number of days" field (box) will probably be set at "0" (zero). This number must be changed. WWLogger interprets "0" to mean that the log files are never to be cleared.7. Touch the "number of days" field (box) in order to move the cursor to the box.8. Use the keyboard to enter "30" in the box.9. Touch the "OK" button.10. Minimize WWLogger by touching the "minimize button" (down arrow) in the upper right-hand corner of the WWLogger window. Procedure 2: Deleting
