Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Remove and Install".
Remove the torque converter bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be cleaned thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies to prevent fluid loss, and keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Disconnect hose assembly (3) to drain the oil from the updrive housing into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the updrive housing is approximately 15 L (4 US gal).
Disconnect hose assembly (2).
Remove cover (4). Remove the O-ring seal from the cover.
Remove seven bolts (1) and the washers.
Remove torque converter scavenge pump (5) from the updrive housing.
