Slowly loosen the fill/vent plug on the hydraulic tank in order to relieve the pressure in the tank.
Remove the key which starts the machine. Secure the cab.External Welds

Procedure For Rework Of The Upper Frame
Mill all of the extremities of the external welds for both the left side and the right side. Refer to Illustrations 6, 7 and 8.

Clean the plates. Remove any paint and dust from all the welded areas.
Fill the groove by welding vertical upward with sticks.
Grind the side face flush.

Remove the central plate.

Fill the groove by welding vertical upward with the sticks.
Grind the area in order to ensure a smooth transition.

Clean the weld spatters.Crack Repair
If a crack in the weld is noticed, a proper repair of the crack should include the following steps:

Gouge out the crack. For a successful repair, remove any weld 50 mm (1.97 inch) away from the visible end of the crack of the weld.Note: The plate is 25 mm (0.98 inch) thick. Do not open a wide gap. The root must be fully re-melted.
Prepare a V groove with a 45° chamfer.
Weld in an overhead position. Lack of fusion is not allowed.
If a visual inspection shows an incorrect weld shape or undercuts, the weld can be ground flush.
